The fountain in Parc de la Ciutadella is commonly known as the Cascada, which refers to the triumphal arch at the center of the waterfall and fountain. The original structure was designed by Josep Fontsère and his student, Antoni Gaudi.

About seven years after its initial construction, several adorning features were added for the Universal Exposition. In the center of the fountain there is a statue of Venus in a clamshell. On top of the arch, Aurora rides in her chariot.

This beautiful fountain has the best light in the morning. The park is extremely popular on the weekends, but during the week, we had the fountain area nearly to ourselves. We used a standard zoom lens to capture the fountain and the surrounding pool and then used a zoom lens to photograph some of the details.
